(Test Prep Words)
Grades 4-8
Key Words (Test Prep Words) are 70 direction and other important words and phrases commonly found on language arts, math, and science tests that test students' critical thinking skills as well as their content knowledge. These Key Words are frequently used in multiple choice and open-response questions. Many of the verbs associated with the 6 levels of Bloom's Taxonomy can be found in the Key Words. Learning the meanings of these words and phrases will help students better understand critical thinking questions that they will encounter on state tests and other standardized tests and increase their awareness and familiarity of test formats.
The 70 words and phrases are presented alphabetically. Each word or phrase has a definition(s) and is used in context in 3 practice test questions as it might be used in a language arts, math, or science test.
At intervals throughout the slide show students review the vocabulary in matching exercises.
Students can use the "Pen Option" of PowerPointR to turn their mouse into a pen of their color choice to complete the matching exercises. Then, they can advance the slide to check their answers. This interactive format serves as a quick assessment with immediate feedback.
This software can be used in a "Word A Day" Program or various other ways depending on the grade or ability level of the student(s).
